During the late 1990's, the Big Hole River
experienced a dramatic increase in angling pressure. As a
result; crowding and conflict between different users developed as did
concerns over potential resource damage from the ever increasing
pressure. In 1999, the Big Hole Watershed Committee successfully
established the first recreation management plan. This
recreation management plan protects the publics opportunity to enjoy
the river system, limits commercial activity, provides equitable
opportunities for resident and nonresident anglers alike and protects
the river resource from overuse. |
